I worked at Rembrandt’s Gallery & Wine Bar for more than 12 years, so naturally, it is the business where I have done most of my designing.
Originally, the business was a handcrafted custom table company called Madison Table Works. Several years later, the art gallery was added, featuring works from many local artisans. Eventually, the wine bar was opened to show off the tables (and it kind of took over).
As the sole in-house designer, I worked on this ongoing branding package for the last few years the wine bar was in business. It included a WordPress website, rack cards that are displayed at local hotels, menus, advertising, and more.
I started by designing a casual yet energetic wordmark based on how the business owner wanted the brand to be perceived. I added wood elements to the marketing collateral and website as a nod to the business’s roots as a table company, and greenery to hint at the freshness of the restaurant’s food. I kept the theme light to reinforce the freshness theme. To add a subtle air of sophistication to the menu designs, I used the modern font Didot (often seen in higher-end advertisements).
